Roberta Wesley was born in Texas and lived and worked for much of her adult life in New Mexico. Her firsthand knowlege and love of the region shows in the authenticity of her paintings with western and Southwestern themes. the landscapes are unmistakably from the American West; scenes of rocky mountains and thirsty plains, live oak and golden aspen, cattle drives, dustsorms, and windmills. The land still bears the marks of the Native Americans who loved it, and their pueblos and totems are represented here too.
